Party Time!!!

Inspiration!

From Sally – When I started this blog I had no idea how it would change me as a writer.  Being a member of the Petit Fours and Hot Tamales has not only given me the opportunity to write for a much

larger audience, but it has also given me a group of ladies who are tremendously supportive.  I am in awe of the talent and dedication of these ladies, and I am so truly blessed to have received their cheers of encouragement and words of wisdom.
From Linsey – As you may know, this month our challenge was to show you our workspaces. Today we have a challenge for our readers. We’re giving away a prize to the person with the correct answer to this question:

How many Felixes (a.k.a. neat freaks) and how many Oscars (a.k.a. packrats) there are among the Petit Fours and Hot Tamales?

You’ll probably want to look back through this month’s posts to make sure. That’s okay. It’s open book.Smile  If the writer didn’t specify exactly, use the content of the posts!!!

If more than one person has the right answer, we’ll select a winner from them.

Good luck!
Recipe!!!!

Spicy Egg Frittata

from Ana Aragon

 Ingredients:

16 slices of day-old white bread
1 can of Rotel tomatoes
13 eggs
1 cup of cooked ham, bacon or sausage, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 jar/can of sliced mushrooms, drained
1 cup of milk
16 oz. of mild cheddar or Mexican mix shredded cheese.

DirectionsSpray cooking spray on bottom of large casserole dish.

Cut crusts off slices of bread. Put down 8 slices of bread in dish (if you can’t fit 8 slices, the dish is too small).

Pour half of the can of Rotel tomatoes evenly on the bread.

Spread ½ of the sliced mushrooms evenly on bread.

Sprinkle ½ cup of meat mixture evenly on bread.

Spread ½ of cheese evenly on top.

Beat ½ cup of milk with 6 eggs. Pour on top of layer in casserole; use the back of a spoon to smooth it in.

Add a second layer of bread and ingredients in same order for 2nd layer.

Beat 1/2 cup of milk with 7 eggs and pour over casserole; distribute evenly with the back of a spoon.

Place in 350 degree over and cook for 45 minutes (check by sticking a knife into the center of the casserole; if it’s still runny, cook additional 5-10 minutes.) Cover with aluminum foil if you’re not serving immediately.

Should look like a puffy soufflé!

Can be made the night before, covered and placed in refrigerator. Allow extra time (15 minutes or so) for cooking.

Serve with a side of salsa and fresh fruit. Enjoy!

Oooohhhh! Carol mentioned drinks yesterday. How about the following.

Peppermintini

1-1/2 oz vodka
1 oz. crème de menthe

Shake with cracked ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass., Garnish with a peppermint stick or sprig of fresh mint.

Maybe that will get us started… Enjoy!
LOL

Dianna Love - January 26, 2010 - 4:29 am

I’m printing recipes for my husband since he does 99.9% of the cooking. Well, maybe only 98%

Here’s my head count:
9 Felixes
6 Oscars
4 organized chaos

Great party week. I’ll miss stopping in tomorrow (flying and meetings all day), but see you again on Thursday.

J Perry Stone - January 26, 2010 - 4:37 am

Spicy AND sweet in one post? Well that’s us, isn’t it?

Tamara DeStefano - January 26, 2010 - 5:35 am

A helpful hint to everyone out there, I’m a Felix…a pain in the ass, clean the counters 30 times a day, white glove using, broom toting Felix.
Good luck everyone!
Have a great morning,
Tamara

Tamara DeStefano - January 26, 2010 - 5:36 am

P.S.
The new site ROCKS!!!!
Luv it ladies. Everyone did a great job!

J Perry Stone - January 26, 2010 - 5:41 am

You’re giving hints, T?

Okay. I’m a more one than the other.

But I like the name, Oscar, better Wink

Sandra Elzie - January 26, 2010 - 5:48 am

Yum, love the recipes…even the Peppermintini. It must be 5 o’clock SOMEWHERE!
Oh, and just call me a semi Oscar. The room is neat…the desk, well,……

Sandy

Marilyn Baron - January 26, 2010 - 6:46 am

Can we say packrat? Hint. Hint.
Love the recipes. Hope everyone is enjoying our anniversary celebration.

Susan - January 26, 2010 - 6:48 am

Are we having fun or what! I can even pull the site up at school. Way to go grils.

Cinthia Hamer - January 26, 2010 - 7:29 am

Sorry I’m late to the party, ladies…computer issues…you don’t wanna know…Ugh!

Anyway, the new place looks FAB! And Tami, I got such a chuckle out of your mini bio. Smile

Sally Kilpatrick - January 26, 2010 - 8:21 am

More of an Oscar than Oscar. Also bear slight resemblance to Oscar the Grouch. After a Pepperminti, though, I slip into more of an Ernie. : )

Carol Burnside - January 26, 2010 - 9:59 am

I’m giving no hints, but it’s nearly noon and I’m hungry, so let’s break out some of Susan’s fudge pie to go with those Peppermintini’s. Oh, and for those who prefer an actual meal at noon, there’s a gi-normous chicken Caesar salad with crusty garlic bread on the buffet table along with a 5-gallon urn of iced tea. Lunch, anyone?

Darcy Crowder - January 26, 2010 - 12:03 pm

Fabulous lunch, Carol! It’s midday and I’m ready to curl up in a big chair with a cup of coffee and a favorite book…but my wip is calling. Oh, and I don’t have any white gloves like Tamara, but I’m thinking about it. Wink

Maxine Davis - January 26, 2010 - 4:15 pm

Love the new site! I can find it on my computer. Now if I could just find my computer on my desk . ..

Ana Aragon - January 26, 2010 - 4:56 pm

I’m going to look up my favorite drink “Lemon Drop” and post it tomorrow in the comments. Martini glass with sugar on the rim… And I’m not saying whether I’m Felix or Oscar, but I’ve been known to pay for my own stuff at my garage sales…!

Linsey Lanier - January 26, 2010 - 8:43 pm

It’s dinnertime (I’m sooooo late here), and I’m starving. Where’s the buffet???

Jean W - January 26, 2010 - 9:49 pm

Congrats on a great year!! Recipes! YUM!!! Now to convince someone else to do my cooking

Great site, wonderful blogs.

Nancy Northcott - January 26, 2010 - 9:55 pm

Happy Anniversary, y’all! Your new look is gorgeous, and the recipes look yummy. I’m a terrible cook, but looking at recipes fills me with a sense of potential.

Congratulations on your success!

Linda Henderson - January 26, 2010 - 10:11 pm

I’m just guessing, but I think 13 oscar’s and 6 felix’s.

Gannon - January 26, 2010 - 10:17 pm

The new site looks great, ladies! Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!

Emily Sewell - January 26, 2010 - 11:37 pm

Fabulous new site, everyone! A great way to celebrate a year online. Must try that peppermintini soon. LOL

Great work all year. Congratulations!

Carol Burnside - January 27, 2010 - 1:09 am

Thanks to Dianna, Jean, Nancy, Linda, Gannon and Emily for stopping by and commenting today. The truth is by our own counts sometimes it’s 13 Felix/6 Oscar and sometimes it’s 12/7 with a few that could tip the scale one way or the other, depending on the day. So, we’re putting all your names in the drawing. Check the sidebar to see who won what.

Cindy Miles - January 27, 2010 - 6:31 am

Hey gals, the new website looks fabulous!!!! GREAT job!!!!!

Linda Henderson - January 27, 2010 - 11:18 am

Thank you so much. I sent you my information.

Julie - January 29, 2010 - 6:05 am

Happy anniversary, all! Thank you so much for including us in your celebration. Smile

I love the names for “neat freaks” and “packrats”…can I be both a Felix and an Oscar?

Pam Asberry - January 29, 2010 - 11:41 am

Oh, my, goodness. The chocolate fudge pie sounds so simple I might just have to make one RIGHT NOW. In the future, I am going to have to wait until AFTER I have done my writing for the day to visit your blog. Keep up the good work! Smile

Jennifer Burress - January 29, 2010 - 12:51 pm

So, I was wondering…do you have a name for those of us who are…uh…organizationally-challenged? This would be me, with a touch of Oscar thrown in for good measure. Smile
