Don’t you just hate it when someone speaks in acronyms that you can’t decipher? Well the title of this post stands for “missing in action and supportive writer friends” because this post is about both. Lately, I’ve been mostly missing in action. MISSING because I’ve been offline while moving across several states to northern Arkansas. The ACTION relates to all the activity associated with packing, moving, unpacking and all the headaches that come with a move, including the buying and selling of homes. It also relates to my writing life since I sold Bittersweet Obsessions.
And the SWF part? Well, that’s where my SUPPORTIVE WRITER FRIENDS here on PFHT come in. During the move, they’ve all been wonderfully SUPPORTIVE of me, indulging my absences, my tardiness with posting and getting some of the behind the scenes stuff done on the blog. On our private loop where we share news and get business done, they’ve cheered me on as I sold a book (Bittersweet Obsessions to Red Sage) and debated the pros and cons of a pen name (Annie Rayburn). They’ve celebrated with me as I turned in edits, was notified of my release date (June 1st!), and applauded the first draft of my cover art. Here’s the final version:
What do you think?
A big THANK YOU goes to my PFHT sisters for being who they are–each one a treasure–and for their support and indulgence. While I still have some unpacking and settling in to do, I’m mostly back and carving out time each day for writing and blogging.
Oh, and before I forget, while I’ve been MIA, big happenings have been going on. We’ve given away a lot of prizes this year, especially during our January anniversary celebration, but we wanted to do more. Hence, the PFHT Recipe for Success Write-Off going on now. If you’re a writer, don’t miss out on the chance to have a literary agent critique your work. Check out yesterday’s post and our Contest page for more information and enter to win!

Love your cover. I have no idea how you’ve functioned lately with everything on your plate, but congratulations on surviving the move and the book release to come!
OMG! How is that acronym for the way all of the Petit Fours and Hot Tamales feel about your success. We’re very proud of you. And with your move to Arkansas we are expanding our presence. We are no longer just an East Coast blog. One day we will be nationwide.
Marilyn
Carol,
Glad to hear the you’ve reached the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep basking the sunshine.
For far as acronyms, they make me feel old. I always have to ask my kids what they stand for.
I’m very happy for your success.
Carol,
Glad you’ve had time to come up for air. Love the cover and can’t wait to get the book!
Enjoy your new home and let us know what the real Arkansas is like
Right back at ya, Debbie!
Marilyn, TYVM! I’ve lived in Arkansas before in several places. Need info on a location? Just ask. Hubby has explored the state extensively.
Ah, Sia, with your attitude about life, I can’t envision you old at any age.
Maxine, less than 3 months until my/Annie’s release date. Isn’t that incredible? I’m still pinching myself.
As for Arkansas, see my comment to Marilyn. Believe me, after living in major metro areas, there are frustrations and joys here.
Hey Carol! We are SO PROUD of you…and miss you terribly. I’m happy you’re finally where you both want to be and can get settled in for the long haul. The cover art is perfect, I can’t wait to be able to buy your book and show it off. (I’m hoping for a Kindle for my BD so I can take it on the go.
TTYS!
Thanks, Darcy. I’m hoping you get a Kindle for your birthday, too. I love mine. Call me when you get a quiet minute, ‘k?
Love the cover!! Congrats on the sale to RS. I’m a fellow Texan living outside the Republic. It takes some getting used to, but regular doses of cream gravy and the occasional ‘ya’ll’ keep me sane! Best of luck with the book release, as well as adjusting to your new digs.

Carol,
I don’t know how you have kept it together but I had no doubt you would. Love the book and look forward to buying it in June.
Linsey and Susan – probably goes without saying that I can’t wait for you to buy your own copy too.
Hi Carol,
Love the cover! Congrats in a huge way…all our PF&HTs rock!!!
Actually, I’m hopeful that living a little closer means we’ll see you more often. (Hey, we can hope!)
Enjoy your new home and we’ll celebrate again with you on June 1st. (Hey, I can ask for your book for my birthday that month!)
Hugs,
Sandy

Hey, Sandy, you never know. I’ve got my fingers crossed that I can come to M&M this year. I’m honored that you’d chose my book for one of your birthday gifts! How cool.
Tami, Red Sage must have a slew of great artists, because I’m seeing quite a lot of beautiful covers in their catalog of books. Thanks for the good wishes!
Thanks, Pam! Saw your new ‘do’ on FB today. Tres chic!!!
Congratulations Carol on selling your story! That’s a wonderful pseudonym. Best wishes as you get settled in your new place.
