Wonderful post, Marilyn. You always make me laugh. I would say I forgot the url, but that would be really, really bad.

You know what's worse than looking all over the house for your glasses and finding them on top of your head? Looking all over the house for your glasses and finding them on your face. I hate to admit I did that recently but I think I really needed a nap. :)

I have a large plastic bag, about 16 x 20 x 10 inches, filled with mismatched socks. I keep throwing the odd ones in the bag. There are 5 of us in the home and we all run or workout so we have a lot of socks. I think I have about 900 single socks that don't have a mate. I don't understand where their mates are? Are they on match.com? I don't have the heart to throw them out but I am very close to doing so. Someone suggested I put on one of those socks and run my foot along the floorboards to clean them. What do I do with the other 899 socks?

Love it, Marilyn. It seems like I spend half my life looking for things. Eventually I find most. Note the "most." And I cannot tell you the number of times I call my cell phone to see where I put it. I find totally relaxing for a moment helps - except when it comes to my cell phone.

Christine,

I called my purse the black hole before I even saw your comment. And my purse is full of receipts, on which I wrote loose notes about my current WIP, and of course, can never find the notes when I need them. I've taken to writing my book notes on my iPhone so I can locate them.I cannot use a small purse, except to go out on special occasions, but nothing ever fits in there. However, I can always find those three or four things. Thanks for your comment.

The socks! That happenes to me all the time, too. In fact, it happened the other day. I am still missing two socks from the last load of laundry I did. I have a stack of seven or so black socks with no mates. I'm sure they're attached to a towel or sheet or shirt or they've escaped through the vent, but they do seem to disappear. I'm glad it's not just me.

Sharon,

I know. My purse is a black hole. I can never find anything in it when I need it. One minute I'll find my keys and say, good, I need those and when I go to look for them a minute later before I walk out the door, they're gone. When I lived in Italy as a college student at a hotel, our door keys were attached to these big colorful ceramic balls, about the size of a fist. That way we would never lose our keys. Maybe that's what someone needs to market.

Ah yes, the keys. They are never there when I go to look for them, but, alas, they are always in my purse even though it takes me many tries to locate them.
