I was excited to get this book at RWA’s National meeting this year in Atlanta. I love to read anything Elizabeth Lowell, New York Times Bestselling author, writes and I wasn’t disappointed with DANGEROUS REFUGE.
Shaye Townsend works for an environmental conservancy that acquires and protects old ranches…and she wants to preserve the Davis homestead. When Tanner’s uncle, the owner of this homestead, dies under suspicious circumstances, Shaye finds herself reluctantly helping Tanner investigate the death. When she becomes a killer’s target, Tanner must face the fact that he’d do anything to protect her. Will he be successful? Well, as the old saying goes…you must read the book to find out.
Ms. Lowell has written a well-plotted story with characters you can relate to and then tosses in enough sexual drama to satisfy everyone. Elizabeth Lowell has a compelling control of words and hangs the reader on the edge with this thriller so that I found myself turning the page at the end of the chapter…until late in the evening…or until the wee hours. Easily five stars….or maybe I should say Three Petit Fours for the tender story and Four Hot Tamales for the tension between Shaye and Tanner. Enjoy!
