I can hardly wait – The Moonlight and Magnolias Conference will be here be here October 4 – 6 at the Hilton Hotel in Norcross! This is really an exciting conference sponsored by the Georgia Romance Writers that attracts people primarily from the Southeast. I know RWA (Romance Writers of America) had their conference in Atlanta this year, but the cry went up that people still wanted an M&M Conference. We cut the length by a day, but when you see the list of events and workshops, you will get excited and, once again, wonder how you will fit everything into the three days.
To me, one of the highlights is the Basket Raffle for Literacy (all monies collected are given to a local literacy program in Atlanta.) I am, again, collecting the baskets for this year’s M&M Conference, and it is fun! Some send their baskets to me if they are not coming or are coming from a great distance. I already have about a half dozen here at the house. Last year, whew, it was many more! Of course, it’s still a little early, but I’ve come to expect them in swarms at the last minute. I don’t mind, because, as I said, it’s fun. It’s like looking in people’s Christmas stockings.
I have 43 already on the list of promised baskets. Here at the house, I have a beautiful box that has a Kindle, Kindle cover, and books by the author. From another author I have four totes containing books, cup, mouse pad, lots of Scottish Shortbread, t-shirts, and other items. One is a beautiful basket with a sexy piece of lingerie, chocolate, wine, wine glasses and lots more. When you get to the “basket room” at the Hilton, you will see tote bags, beach bags, gift bags, a bucket, a crocheted bag, and, of course, baskets! Some are themed, but they are all wonderful, regardless. Be sure you come in and pick out your favorites. You walk by and put a ticket in each box next to the basket you want. Me? I go in with a big handful of tickets.
Winners will be drawn Saturday around 4 p.m. and posted. I look forward to seeing each of you there – and wave when you go by the Basket Room. The pictures are just a few of last year’s baskets.
