Another Author First

by Carol Burnside

I’ve been writing for eleven years now, but on the 14th of this month, I enjoyed a first in my writing career: a book in print! I’ve had short stories in print books, short stories in magazines both with and without bylines. I’ve had books, a novella and short stories in electronic form, but I’d never had a book in print with my name on the cover.

Until now.A Suitable Wife in Print!

Introducing: A SUITABLE WIFE in print! It was a heady feeling to open that box and see not one, not two but lots of copies of a book I authored. Like other authors have done, I had to take a picture to commemorate the event.

I’ve had other firsts lately:

First time to have a book available in both e-book and print.

First time to order professional business cards.

First time to order a postcard.

First time to order bookmarks.

First time to order “Autographed by the Author” stickers.

And like a goof, I took pics of those too.

This is already an exciting year for me and it’s not even half over. A busy, busy year, but rewarding. If all goes well, I should have Her Unexpected Family available in print in June, and more books to come, both in electronic and print.

Have you enjoyed any firsts in your life lately?

Let me be the first to congratulate you. I know how excited you are. And your books are so beautiful.I’m glad you took pictures to share the moment. Where did you get your autographed by the author stickers? Remember this moment!

Congratulations, Carol! “An Unexpected Family” is up next on my Kindle. My biggest first in my life recently was my piano duo concert a couple of weeks ago. Now, to get back to work on my writing!

Congrats on all the firsts! I, like a idiots, went and ordered too many bookmarks for my primarily e-book, but I like the look and feel of them! I’m going through a lot of firsts just now, which is intimidating but exciting at the same time! Congrats to you!

They are beautiful! I love to open mine up and smell them. Inhale the newness. I will have to have one for my shelf–signed of course.

Walt Mussell - May 27, 2014 - 11:15 am

Congrats, Carol. My only recent first is a first place in a contest with a new manuscript. Would love to enjoy the writing firsts you currently are having.

Carol Burnside - May 27, 2014 - 2:00 pm

Ah, Pam, the concert sounds both exciting and nerve wracking. At least that’s how I remember my experiences as a student performer during recitals. Can’t wait to get your reaction to Her Unexpected

Carol Burnside - May 27, 2014 - 2:01 pm

Maxine, I have no doubt you will. Keep writing, lady!

Carol Burnside - May 27, 2014 - 2:02 pm

Piper, it sounds like we’re in parallel writing modes right now. Exciting times!

Carol Burnside - May 27, 2014 - 2:03 pm

Absolutely, Susan. I’ve got one reserved for you! I’ve been passing out bookmarks around town.

Carol Burnside - May 27, 2014 - 2:04 pm

That’s a great first, Walt. I remember my first final and first contest win. It was a great boost to my confidence as a writer.

Connie Gillam - May 28, 2014 - 11:27 am

Congratulations, Carol. There’s nothing like holding your book in your hand.

Sandy Elzie - May 30, 2014 - 1:54 pm

Congratulations!!! When my first published books arrived, hubby didn’t realize the significance of opening the box and being the first to see my book in print, so he opened it and brought one to me. (sigh)
