Where Are We in August?

by Maxine Davis

Join me for the fun and travel in August.  Where was this picture taken?

The winner will receive a $5 Starbuck’s gift card – if more than one correct guess, a drawing will be held to determine the winner.  Good Luck.

See You Next Weekend

Piper - August 1, 2014 - 7:29 am

Oooh!! I like statutes. Is it in the city of statues–Washington D.C.?

Marilyn Baron - August 1, 2014 - 8:01 am

I was just in Washington, DC, and like piper was inclined to think it might be there, but it sort of looks Southern, so either Virginia and somewhere in Georgia? But I have no clue where it is.

Maxine Davis - August 1, 2014 - 8:06 am

Hi All, I guess it looks sneaky to put this one statue as the hint, although, this particular one is usually in the pictures depicting this particular city.

Piper, Sorry it’s not D.C. – and I love statues, too.

Marilyn, So sorry, but it’s not Virginia nor Georgia. Thank you and Piper for stopping by today!

Maxine Davis - August 1, 2014 - 8:20 am

AND thank you, Marilyn

Sandy Elzie - August 1, 2014 - 9:23 am

Virginia? I’m thinking Civil War…and Virginia was very much a player in the battles of that war.

Maxine Davis - August 1, 2014 - 9:29 am

Sandy, Sorry not Virginia, but it certainly did play a big part in the Civil War. Thank you for commenting.

Constance Gillam - August 1, 2014 - 10:06 am

I haven’t a clue, so I’ll just guess. Alabama.

Maxine Davis - August 1, 2014 - 10:52 am

Hi Connie, No, not Alabama, but I appreciate the guess. Yep, it is Southern.

Sandy Elzie - August 1, 2014 - 11:32 am

North Carolina? Several large battles took place there as well.

Maxine Davis - August 1, 2014 - 2:00 pm

Sorry, not North Carolina, Sandy

Jane - August 1, 2014 - 2:29 pm

I’m going with New Orleans.

Maxine Davis - August 1, 2014 - 5:37 pm

Congratulations, Jane!
The battle of New Orleans was the final major battle of the War of 1812, commanded by Major General Andrew Jackson. He prevented the British from overtaking New Orleans. Jackson’s statue is prominate in NEW ORLEANS.

Send me your info, Jane and I’ll get the card to you.

Join me each weekend in August to “visit” this captivating city.

Maxine Davis - August 1, 2014 - 8:10 pm

Jane, so you need some information on where to email?

Jane - August 2, 2014 - 12:06 am

Hi Maxine,
I sent an email to pfhtbloggers AT yahoo DOT com. Hope this is the right addy. Thanks.

Walt Mussell - August 2, 2014 - 10:16 am

That was a tough one, as son many southern cities have a similar statue. I would not have guessed New Orleans. Love the city but haven’t been there in years. Looking forward to seeing what you write about over the next few weeks.

Maxine Davis - August 3, 2014 - 8:13 pm

Hi Walt, that’s true. Every picture I looked at screamed New Orleans, lol. Hope I didn’t anger anybody. It was a very fun town.

Sia Huff - August 4, 2014 - 12:03 pm

New Orleans is so much fun…I’ve heard. Look forward to hearing about it.
